Ingredients

  • 1 large apple (like Granny Smith for tartness or Honeycrisp for sweetness), peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • For the Shake:
  • 3 large scoops (about 1.5 cups) vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
  • For Topping:
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Crushed graham crackers or a pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the chopped apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, until the apples are soft and syrupy. Let it cool completely.
  2. Place a tall glass in the freezer.
  3. In a blender, combine the cooled cooked apples, vanilla ice cream, milk, and 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce.
  4. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  5. Drizzle the inside of the chilled glass with extra caramel sauce. Pour the shake into the glass.
  6. Top with a large swirl of whipped cream, another generous drizzle of caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of crushed graham crackers or a pinch of sea salt to enhance the caramel flavor.
  7. Serve Immediately.
